Google has released the May 2023 updates for its Pixel smartphones and Pixel watch. The update is available for Pixel 4a (5G) and newer models, the update includes various security improvements and improved touchscreen response for the Pixel 7 Pro.
The updates are relatively small, as is typical for monthly updates, while major Android and Wear OS changes are expected to be announced at the upcoming I/O 2023 event. The Pixel 7 Pro’s improved touchscreen responsiveness will only be noticeable under certain conditions, although Google has not specified what those conditions are. The latest update not only addresses bugs but also ensures that lock screen elements are no longer visible on the home screen of eligible Pixel phones.
Google releases updates in batches, so it’s important to know that your device might not automatically begin downloading the TQ2A.230505.002 update for a few more days.
You can download the update manually by going to the main setting menu and clicking on “Check for Updates”. With the RWDA.230114.013 update, the Pixel Watch has obtained the May 2023 Android security patches. You can check out Google’s latest Android Security Bulletin for more information on the CVEs update for this month.
