Apple has recently made the third beta of iOS 16.5 available to both developers and public testers alike. This beta introduces two novel features and changes.
New Features in iOS 16.5 Beta
The iOS 16.5 beta introduces a Sports tab in the Apple News app. It allows users to easily access scores, schedules, and news about their favorite teams and leagues. This information was only available in the Today tab in the past, but now it is prominently featured within the app.
Apart from the Sports tab, iOS 16.5 can initiate a screen recording using Siri. Users can screen recording by simply saying “Hey Siri, start a screen recording.” They can stop the recording by asking Siri to do so. Users can enable this feature in the Control Center within the iPhone’s Settings.
It is important to note that iOS 16.5 is expected to be publicly released in May, with the possibility of more features being added in later beta versions. To experience the beta, interested users can sign up for an Apple Developer Program membership for $99 per year or the free Apple Beta Software Program.
Wrap Up
With the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) scheduled to be held in June, iOS 16.5 is expected to be a minor update from Apple. Nonetheless, the Sports tab and Siri screen recording features are exciting additions for iPhone users to look forward to.
